Holliday demands Caribbean Championship recognized by MLW

Richard Holliday is pushing for his Caribbean Heavyweight Championship to be “naturalized” as a formally recognized championship with Major League Wrestling.  So much so his lawyer/father is blitzing the league with legal threats.

“These threats are just legal toilet paper,” said MLW CEO Court Bauer. “I’m not going to comment on the status of absorbing another organization’s title into our league as that would not be appropriate.”

For decades, the storied title has been one of Puerto Rico’s most storied titles.  The championship’s lineage dates back decades and has been held by the likes of Pedro Morales, Gilberto “Gypsy Joe” Meléndez, Abdullah the Butcher, Gorilla Monsoon and Savio Vega.

Holliday defeated Savio Vega in Dallas earlier this year on FUSION in a non-title bout. Following the match, Holliday quickly grabbed the belt and walked off having stolen the historic title.

MLW and the Sports Ministry of Puerto Rico still recognize Savio Vega as the rightful Caribbean Heavyweight Champion.
