BJJ gold medalist Dominic Garrini was spotted last weekend overseas on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Why was the barefoot Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu grappler so far from home? Simple: he was on hand to see UFC 251 and scout a new member of Team Filthy.
Was the “Bone Collector” recruiting Amanda Ribas? A talented flyweight, Ribas does have a connection to Team Filthy… via Dan Lambert’s American Top Team. Given her impressive outing against Paige VanZant, Ribas would be an interesting get.
But what if Garrini was pursuing José Aldo or Peter Yan?
Team Filthy refused to comment on Garrini’s international excursion but a source close to the fight camp has indicated Tom Lawlor has Garrini globetrotting over the next several weeks to look at fighters around the world.
One thing is for sure: Team Filthy is on the hunt as they look towards a bright future thanks to some aggressive expansion.
