Team Tankman readying for title fight

Team Tankman’s fight camp in Indianapolis.

In a small, dusty boxing gym on the outskirts of Indianapolis, Team Tankman drills Calvin Tankman in early morning and afternoon sessions 7 days a week.

Setting up shop at Drexell’s Gym 2 weeks ago in preparation for the fight of a lifetime against World Heavyweight Champion Jacob Fatu, Tankman has been more or less living out of the gym when not at FUSION.

The undefeated rampaging rookie has a big task when he faces CONTRA’s kingpin. Fatu, himself undefeated since debuting in 2019, has vanquished all challengers to the championship. From Mexico to Japan and all points in-between, Fatu has triumphed over the sport’s best. But he’s never faced someone so eerily similar in both size and boasting such an unorthodox arsenal as that of Tankman.

While Team Tankman remains coy about the strategy and science behind their fight camp, it’s clear Tankman is focussed on his heavy hands while maintaining his agility in the event he has to deploy some sky combat in the March 31st championship bout.

No stranger to training in a variety of fighting styles, Tankman is well versed in Mixed Martial Arts, having trained for years extensively before turning pro and embarking on a career in professional wrestling.

While CONTRA Unit has unleashed a bevy of propaganda videos casting doubt and fear surrounding the Fatu vs. Tankman World Title match, Tankman remains grounded and low profile. Simply stating he will do his talking in the ring, the MLW newcomer is taking his meteoric rise in stride, remaining humble and focussed.

In under a week Tankman will face the biggest challenge of his young career as he wrestles Jacob Fatu for the World Heavyweight Championship. Will the “Samoan Smashing Machine” crush the challenger’s championship dreams… or will the Heavyweight Hustle topple the champ and claim the title? Find out this Wednesday night at 7pm ET as MLW presents Never Say Never.
