A spectacular luchador, World Tag Team Champion Rey Fenix has been described by Dave Meltzer as “perhaps the most spectacular wrestler right now.” Konnan recently compared his excellence to that of the late Eddie Guerrero. Rey Fenix has come to epitomize the modern, high-flying luchador.
As a boy in Mexico City, Rey Fenix was in awe of such luchadores as Rey Mysterio, Psicosis and Juventud Guerrera. He was inspired to follow in their footsteps. Little did the world know, Rey Fenix (like his idols before him), would usher in a new generation of breathtaking lucha libre unlike anything the sport had ever seen.
Nicknamed “Hijo del Fuego” (Son of Fire), Fenix is pure fire in the ring with his high-octane style of acrobatic attacks from the air.
As a tecnico (a lucha libre term describing an honorable luchador who fights with pride and respect), Fenix often finds himself at odds with his brother, Pentagon Jr., despite their dominance in tag team encounters.
A member of Salina de la Renta‘s Promociones Dorado, the high-flying luchador is one of the top-ranked fighters in Major League Wrestling.
“Animo! Animo! Animo” is a chant often connected with a Rey Fenix match. Why? Because it means effort and very few put in as much effort to entertain the fans secure the all-important victory than Rey Fenix.
