Major League Wrestling today announced tournament alternate ACH will replace “Filthy” Tom Lawlor in the World Championship Tournament. It will be ACH vs. Matt Riddle in next week’s semi-finals clash in Orlando on March 8th at MLW: Spring Break ’18 hosted by Gilt Nightclub.
Anticipating the unpredictable nature of the sport, MLW added a wild card component to the tournament: alternates. Should one of the competitors be forced to withdraw, an alternate would be activated. Alternates, who are not made public unless a tournament competitor has been removed, creates an unpredictable nature to the tournament.
The alternates have signed confidentiality agreements, creating a mystery as to who these alternates could be. Last night, ACH was informed he was officially activated and would now have a 1 in 4 chance of being the next World Heavyweight Champion.
Lawlor, who had advanced to the final four, was set to compete against Matt Riddle next Thursday in the semi-finals. Instead, he underwent successful surgery in Las Vegas yesterday to have pins and a plate installed in his forearm after suffering a break over the weekend.
Will ACH send shockwaves through the tournament’s final four? Find out LIVE on March 8!
