Tonight in Orlando the culmination of a 3 month tournament saw Shane “Swerve” Strickland beat the undefeated Matt Riddle in the finals for the World Heavyweight Championship.

After nearly 25 minutes of a highly competitive bout, Strickland pinned Riddle to win the coveted title and earn the distinction of being the first new World Heavyweight Champion in Major League Wrestling since Steve Corino won the title in June 2003.

The classic clash of two of the sport’s best saw a battle of grappling, submission attempts and thunderous strikes.  Senior referee Frank Gastineau called the action before a sold out crowd at Gilt Nightclub.

MLW can confirm the match will air online for free in the next several days.  More details on where you will be able to watch this historic match will be made available soon exclusively here at MLW.com
