History was made Thursday night in Orlando. The new World Tag Team Championships were decided and Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix — walked away with the belts.
A three-way, elimination match with “anything goes” rules was set to determine the champions, as the Col. Parker’s Stud Stable was represented by the Dirty Blondes, while Salina de la Renta and Promociones Dorado presented Pentagon and Fenix, with Team TBD’s Jason Cade and Jimmy Yuta rounding out the participants.
The action was hot and heavy from the beginning. The first elimination was a bit of a surprise. The Dirty Blondes have held the upper hand over Team TBD for much of the past few months, but Cade and Yuta used some high-impact, high-flying and scored the first pinfall on Col. Parker’s men. From there, Team TBD held their own against two of the top-ranked wrestlers in all of MLW. The tide turned when Yuta was holding Fenix for a double-team by Cade. But the luchador escaped at the last second and Cade struck his own partner.
That slight lapse by Team TBD opened the door for Pentagon Jr. and Fenix and the Promociones Dorado duo kicked it down, en route a thrilling World Tag Team Championship victory.
After the match, the new World Tag Team Champions were each greeted with a bottle of Don Julio tequila by Salina de la Renta to celebrate their title win. The fans lined up ringside and got in on enjoying the post match celebration!
