What a way to ring in Christmas as Holiday Rush hails from New York City at the Melrose Ballroom on Christmas Eve! We first see that the Filthy Bros are on the same page in terms of celebration and we waste no time at getting to the in-ring action!
MATCH 1
Janai Kai vs. Tiffany Avatar
Janai Kai also wastes no time with Avatar as she gives her a QUICK kick to the mid-section. Avatar collapses and the ref calls for the bell! We later learn that Avatar suffered a broken rib from such a shot!
WINNER: Janai Kai
Post-fight, Kai taunts Delmi Exo and makes clear she plans to shave her head BALD!
Delmi is soon to respond, noting that she is giving herself one more opportunity to take that Featherweight gold from Kai! It will go down on January 11 in Dallas, TX.
MATCH 2
Minoru Suzuki vs. AKIRA
This battle goes as expected between these two violent names. Strikes and shots are traded between the two and Suzuki gets especially vicious by pulling at the stitches on AKIRA’s stomach! AKIRA ends up battling back with a top rope double knee strike, but ultimately Suzuki gets the victory following a Gotch Piledriver.
WINNER: Minoru Suzuki
Cesar Duran and Salina de la Renta discuss if they were betrayed by the decisions at MLW One-Shot, but Salina looks as it as an opportunity. Suddenly, nobody know where the baby is!
MATCH 3
Brett Ryan Gosselin vs. Matt Riddle
The Rogue Horsemen strut out and BRG disparages NYC before Riddle comes out. Riddle offers BRG a fist bump, but Gosselin goes for an attack and gets taken easily down by the Battle Riot VI winner. The momentum is fully on Matt’s side until the Andersons trip up Riddle on the apron. However, there is an unexpected equalizer as the FIRED Alex Kane hops on the apron to jawbreak BRG over the apron. Riddle hits a Brostone and it’s all over!
WINNER: Matt Riddle
MSL walks into the dressing room of Timothy Thatcher and says he has an envelope full of cash. Thatcher is hired to break Tom Lawlor’s leg in his match tonight. Thatcher takes the money.
BRG is beside himself in the stairwell after his loss to Riddle and Paul Walter Hauser walks by, rubbing it in. BRG reminds Hauser that he took out Paul London, and PWH isn’t against squaring up against BRG in the ring.
MATCH 4
Titan vs. Magnus
In a CMLL square-off, Titan and Magnus go at it for a back and forth lucha battle. Both contenders take high-risks, but it’s actually a very deep submission that gives Titan the win as Magnus is forced to submit to a back breaking sharpshooter!
WINNER: Titan
We see BOMAYE’s Kevin Knight laid out backstage by The Andersons courtesy of baseball bats! Clear retaliation after Alex Kane’s interference!
MATCH 5
Timothy Thatcher vs. Tom Lawlor
The objective for Thatcher was simple: break Filthy Tom’s leg and the Sweet Scientist makes that a major focus during the fight. Lawlor continues to fight on and manages to get Thatcher down on the ground before he hits a top rope punch that keeps Timothy down for the 1-2-3!
WINNER: Tom Lawlor
Post-fight, out comes MSL as Lawlor talks trash. It’s a ruse for Dijak who tries to attack Lawlor from behind but Tom scouts it and clears house!
We see Cesar Duran and Jesus Rodriguez looking for the baby, which thankfully they find. However, there is a note which says they took Salina’s mother instead!
The Rogue Horsemen haven’t made many friends and that includes National Openweight Champion Matthew Justice. He’s faced plenty adversity like this before and he’s not afraid of that foursome.
It’s main event time.
MAIN EVENT
MLW World Heavyweight Championship
Ultimo Guerrero vs. Satoshi Kojima (c)
The match doesn’t start off with good sportsmanship as Guerrero seizes the opportunity to attack Kojima. The veterans slug it out with several strikes, but the two also get airborn. There’s a moment where Kojima goes for a Frankensteiner but the brute strength of Guerrero allows him to nail a powerbomb from up top! It’s a very near fall, but Kojima perseveres. Ultimo Guerrero tries to use Kojima’s own move against him with a version of the Lariato, but it’s Kojima’s who keeps the CMLL legend down for the 1-2-3.
WINNER and STILL MLW World Heavyweight Champion: Satoshi Kojima
Backstage, Matt Riddle is grinning ear to ear as he has his ticket to face Kojima January 11! Happy Holidays everyone!
