The National Openweight Champion meets the Southern Crown Champion when Austin Aries battles Trevor Lee in the Opera Cup on MLW FUSION this Thursday at 8 PM ET, streaming free on Tubi. A semifinal berth awaits the winner, but tournament advancement is not the only issue between them.
Aries’ interference tainted Lee’s earlier advancement against Místico, giving the Southern Crown Champion a reason to settle matters directly. Lee wants a fight that leaves no doubt about his ability to move forward on his own terms.
Aries brings a different set of priorities. The self-proclaimed “Phantom of the Opera Cup” combines punishing offense with a willingness to manipulate any situation that threatens his progress, making him dangerous even when an opponent appears to have control.
Lee’s explosiveness and determination present a difficult test for that approach. Can he keep Aries from dictating the match, or will the National Openweight Champion find another way to turn the circumstances in his favor?
Two titleholders enter with pride and a place in the next round at stake. Only one will move closer to claiming the Cup.
