SPOILER ALERT: The below features news and results from this past week’s MLW FUSION TV tapings in New York City.

After months of speculation, this past Thursday in New York City the winner of the 2018 Battle RIOT finally gave us an answer on when he intends to cash in his World Championship Title Match.

Following a competitive match to determine the franchise of MLW, the victor, “Filthy” Tom Lawlor, took the microphone and explained not only when he will challenge but also why he has not yet challenged for the league’s most prestigious belt.

Lawlor shared with locker room correspondent Kaci Lennox that Low Ki and Promociones Dorado had been evasive the last few months on committing to a title match despite Lawlor’s contractually right to a title fight.  Thankfully, league officials stepped in and set the title fight.

The date for Tom Lawlor’s dance with championship gold will be Saturday night February 2nd at MLW: SUPER FIGHT.  The event will also serve as an MLW FUSION TV taping for beIN Sports.

Several cities are vying to host the Super Bowl weekend title fight which will be held the Saturday night of Super Bowl weekend. Final bids are expected in this week.  Then, league officials will go through a process to determine the best opportunity.  A final decision is expected to be publicly revealed later this month.

In the meantime, Lawlor along with Team Filthy will be in training for his road to the championship.

When reached for comment, Promociones Dorado refused to discuss the allegations about being uncooperative in committing to a title match.

More details as they become available.
