El Jefe is back! The proprietor of AZTECA Lucha, Cesar Duran, has returned to MLW with a big acquisition: Místico.

After an extraordinary lucha espectacular where Místico defeated Salina de la Renta’s luchador Averno at MLW SuperFight 4, Duran has secured his first title fight for Azteca Lucha. Mistico will challenge Rocky Romero for the MLW World Middleweight Championship live in New York City at Intimidation Games.

Duran shocked the lucha world by returning to MLW this past Saturday where he confronted Salina de la Renta at SuperFight 4. He delivered the biggest box office draw in Mexico, one of Mexico’s grandest luchadores: Místico.

A perennial main eventer in CMLL, Místico has won countless titles and become a crossover star, appearing in several TV shows and music videos in Mexico. Now, Místico, under the AZTECA Lucha banner, circles one of Salina de la Renta’s most prized possessions: the MLW World Middleweight Title.

Duran and Salina have a mysterious past tied to lucha, power, and money. In 2021 it was revealed that Salina had made a “powerful enemy” as she borrowed money to keep Promociones Dorado thriving… and it came at a cost. The cost of doing business with the ruthless proprietor of AZTECA Lucha, Cesar Duran.

After failing Duran, “El Jefe” had his masked Azteca thugs drag Salina off. Seemingly gone from MLW forever, the Puerto Rican powerbroker would turn heads reemerging with a vengeance this past September. Ironically, this would come just weeks after Cesar Duran himself was dragged off, seemingly vanishing.

Now engulfed in a promotional lucha war between AZTECA Lucha and Promociones Dorado, the MLW World Middleweight title hangs in the balance.

Romero, who has dominated the 205 lb. division since winning the title from AKIRA in the fall, looks to crush arguably his greatest challenge yet. Will the wily Romero triumph once again or surrender to La Mistica?

Witness Místico’s NYC debut LIVE!

Lock in your tickets now at http://www.MLWNYC.com and see it go down Thursday, February 29 in New York City.
