One-Shot Recap: Eric Bischoff Takes Over NYC

MLW.com

MLW One-Shot is an Eric Bischoff production.

MLW One-Shot is hailing from NYC at the Melrose Ballroom and it is indeed “Eric Bischoff’s Place.

Eric walks out to a huge reception and yucks it up with the crowd as out come the Filthy Bros! Matt Riddle and Tom Lawlor are there for a good time and Tom playfully takes some jabs  Bischoff, asking EZE if he came here to sink MLW like he did with two other companies.

Bischoff is about having fun and he wants the crowd to have fun too. That prompts to add a stipulation to Riddle’s match against Donovan Dijak tonight. If Matt loses, Dijak gets his World Title shot!.

Once Lawlor and Riddle leave, Eric has a big reveal make for January’s Kings of Colosseum Bischoff is known for creating matches and he drops a bombshell for a fight: The Gravity Gramble! AKIRA, Mads Krule Krugger, BRG, Matthew Justice, and Trevor Lee are all seen. Several briefcases will hang above the ring, some containing weapons, some empty, but only one holding the ultimate prize—a guaranteed title shot.

Suddenly, Mads Krugger comes out and like Bischoff was earlier, was not pleased. No one tells him or CONTRA what to do and as Krugger goes towards Eric, Eric notes that he has a mercenary of his own tonight, the GIANT Babathunder! An impromptu fight is on!

MATCH 1
Mads Krule Krugger vs. Babathunder

These men may both be massive, but they weren’t afraid to take risks. Suplexes and superplexes were executed and it was Babathunder who had the strength and (surprisingly) size advantage on Krugger. However, Kruger catches Babathunder in a rear naked choke for the victory.

WINNER: Mads Krule Krugger

Post-fight, the rest of CONTRA swarm the ring and Krugger gives Babathunder two choices: join CONTRA or leave in a bodybag. For Babathunder, the choice is easy: “Hail CONTRA!”

Eric Bischoff joins commentary to get back to his old ways which Joe Dombrowski asks him about. Bischoff plays off that he doesn’t have ulterior motives but does reveal the finish of a different wrestling company airing programming that night!

Backstage we see Paul Walter Hauser defending the name of Paul London against The Andersons. CW and Brock mock the actor before Bischoff runs in to shake PWH’s hand. He has an idea: why doesn’t Hauser team with Matthew Justice to face The Andersons tonight? Hauser likes it and the fight is on.

As Hauser and Andersons leave, in comes Alex Kane and Mr. Thomas. Kane makes perfectly clear he doesn’t trust Bischoff.

MATCH 2
Ava Everett vs. Delmi Exo

Ava Everett is a game competitor against Delmi, but the God Queen is on quite the hot streak and there is no difference here. Delmi gets Everett with a sold kick that rocks Ava and it sets her up for a Delmi Driver and the 1-2-3.

WINNER: Delmi Exo

Cesar Duran is out with Delmi and issues a warning to Janai Kai. Delmi makes clear she will face Kai  and she wants to do it at Kings of Colosseum in a TITLE vs. HAIR match!

Duran stays busy after the fight. He meets up with Bischoff to put “HLA” on the show. Bischoff says that it probably isn’t in the best interest of political correctness. However, Duran meant “Hot Lucha Action” and Bischoff dismisses it, and also shares the exceptions he takes with lucha libre.Things get contentious and Eric ends up changing Mistico’s match tonight. If Mistico loses against Trevor Lee, he not only loses his Middleweight Title, but he loses his mask as well!

MATCH 3
Fan’s Choice Match
Alex Kane vs. Bobby Fish

The polls are now closed for fan’s choice as they could have voted on a taped fist match, a UWFI rules match, or a kickboxing match.  The fans have chosen UWFI Rules match! The rules are gone over as a point system  comes into play with point deductions  for rope breaks and too many strikes. There are also no pinfalls. Just knock out or submission.

The match is underway and the stipulation is in Kane’s favor considering he is savvy in the suplex arts. Fish is really off his game and Kane takes advantage with a t-bone suplex and a brainbuster. Fish is not able to answer the ten count and the ref calls for the bell.

WINNER: Alex Kane

Post-fight, Bischoff is shown on the big screen and he’s in the production truck. Kane’s words earlier really must not have sat well with Eric because Bischoff FIRES Alex Kane! Kane is irate and takes his anger out on security. Mr. Thomas has to settle him down!

MATCH 4
World Middleweight Championship
Trevor Lee vs. Mistico (c)

This match is a clash of styles but it feels like both Lee and Mistico have one another well-scouted. Lee gets extremely close to winning and even attempts to tear at the mask of Mistico. However, the champ stops that momentum by meeting up with Lee up top to deliver a Spanish Fly! Mistico covers and gets the win!

WINNER and STILL World Middleweight Champion: Mistico

MATCH 5
Donovan Dijak vs. Matt Riddle

This may indeed have been the hardest-hitting fight of the night  as both Riddle and Dijak don’t hold back. Dijak however, gets caught in a chokehold by Riddle and it appears that Dijak is in dire straits. It forces MSL to get involved and the bell sounds.

WINNER via DQ: Matt Riddle

Dijak looks to attack Matt further after the fight, but Tom Lawlor runs down for the save.

MATCH 6
EZE’s Roulette
The Andersons vs. Matthew Justice & Paul Walter Hauser

The roulette wheel spins and it lands on a New York City street fight! Justice is amped and the fight goes down. Justice and Hauser may have never teamed  together but they show cohesiveness as they take it to CW and Brock! The latter tries to bail but that doesn’t happen. Chaos ensues as weapons are used and boards are busted!

Hauser manages to DVD CW through a table but finds himself hitting an open turnbuckle which allows Brock to cover and get the win!

WINNERS: The Andersons

MAIN EVENT
MLW World Tag Team Championship
COZYMAX vs. CONTRA (c)

Obviously, Kojima and Suzuki know each other very well and Kojima lays in the machine gun chops. That leaves Suzuki unphased, but both COZYMAX knows how to handle the tag team game. They isolate Suzuki and Ikuro Kwon from one another and that sets Okumura up to hit Kwon with a super Koji Cutter for the 1-2-3! New World Tag Team Champs! COZYMAX are in the history books as MLW’s first ever two-time Tag Champions!

WINNERS and NEW MLW World Tag Team Champions: COZYMAX

Bread rains down upon the new champs as we cut to Eric Bischoff outside the Melrose Ballroom. He’s seen having a phone conversation with someone with some league documents in hand. He says to this person, he’s got, “everything you need to know … and then some.”

What is EZE up to?
