On Friday night a national audience got its first chance to experience Major League Wrestling: FUSION on beIN SPORTS as the series made its historic debut. Tony Schiavone returned to wrestling commentary for the first time in seventeen years and didn’t miss a beat as he called the show with Rich Bocchini.
The action was fast and furious right out of the gate as ACH faced off against Austin Aries in a thrilling fight that had fans out of their seats. ACH entered the bout with injured ribs. The injury would play a key factor in the match. After a back and forth battle that saw both men taken to the brink of exhaustion, Aries managed to eek out a victory over his game opponent, but it took all three of his finishing moves to keep ACH down for the three-count.
A competitive encounter was not on the “Caramel Colossus” Barrington Hughes agenda. The mighty Miami mammoth does not get paid by the hour, and dispatched his opponent in less than ten seconds. As Barrington left the ring, he demanded more competition. The question is who will step up next on FUSION?
In the main event, Promociones Dorado impressaria Salina de la Renta presented a battle of brothers to become the #1 contender for Shane “Swerve” Strickland’s MLW World Heavyweight Championship. Pentagon, Jr. faced off against Rey Fenix in a classic match that had the Orlando, FL audience gasping for breath on the edge of their seats. In the end, Pentagon stood triumphant, earning the right to face Strickland for the Championship next month.
Before Swerve can face the challenge of Pentagon and his malevolent promoter, Salina, he has unfinished business with England’s Most Dangerous Man, Jimmy Havoc. With two victories over Strickland already, can the champ find a way to overcome his nemesis? We’ll find out in the main event of next week’s MLW FUSION.
