Despite her involvement in the recent attack on Konnan, Salina de la Renta has been named Most Influential in the 2018 MLW Year-End Awards.
The impresaria and founder of Promociones Dorado took home the honor as the most influential person in Major League Wrestling. The founder of Promociones Dorado, which acts as a pipeline to the stars of Latin America for sports leagues, TV and film in the United States and abroad, de la Renta had a big 2018.

While entangled in two controversial situations in recent weeks involving Konnan and Kotto Brazil, the influence of Salina de la Renta and her wrestlers was felt throughout 2018 in MLW. At one point during the summer of 2018, de la Renta had the World Heavyweight Champion and World Tag Team Champions under her Promociones Dorado banner.
A powerful player in sports and entertainment in Latin America, Salina de la Renta proved in 2018 that she is one of today’s most sophisticated and driven entrepreneurs.
Earlier this year, the Lucha Bros – Rey Fenix and Pentagon Jr. – won the World Tag Team Championship while under contract to Promociones Dorado. Of course, we all know how that ended up, as Konnan became mentor to and began appearing in the corner of Pentagon and Fenix.
Salina de la Renta also was behind the shocking World Heavyweight Title change which saw Low Ki shock the world as he dethroned MLW’s golden boy Shane “Swerve” Strickland in July.
Of course, some have asked: why would MLW grant the ruthless de la Renta a promoters license? Simple: she is connected with the biggest television networks, entertainers and athletes of Latin America. So, when MLW wanted to showcase lucha libre, they issued a promoting and managing license to the woman labeled “Bruja” by Barrington Hughes.
Simply put: If you want best of the best from Latin America, you go to Salina de la Renta who represents the best in Lucha Libre.
While her main office is based out of Dorado, Puerto Rico, de la Renta has satellite offices in Mexico City, Bolivia, Chile and San Diego, Calif.
Correcting those who label her a manager, de la Renta is quick to clarify that she doesn’t “manage wrestlers.” De la Renta says she “showcases premiere Latin talent.”
In addition to promoting both the World Heavyweight Champion and World Tag Team Champions at some point during 2018, de la Renta also brought some of the greatest wrestlers in the world to MLW. LA Park, Hijo de LA Park, Ricky Martinez, Sammy Guevara, Ultimo Ninja and others all competed under the Promociones Dorado banner throughout 2018.
